Meet the new Executive Director

Beth Taggard

Currently serving as special events manager for the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), Beth has been on the front line of events in Arkansas since 2005. You may know her from DeGray Lake Resort State Park, Henderson State University, or the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau (Statehouse Convention Center, Robinson Center, & River Market).

Hello Arkansas Festival and Events Association!

The last few years have brought a new meaning to shifting paradigms. More than any other industry, live events have experienced a fundamental shift in operations and public expectations. Events stopped, then they adapted and resurged. Many people left event work permanently—changing careers, retiring, or through layoffs. But not everything has changed. With a heavy dose of digital fatigue, our guests are returning to live events, and their experience, the need to be entertained and delighted, is stronger than ever.

It’s time to get back to work.

Getting back to work may mean reviving an event or festival still on hold due to the lingering effects of the pandemic. We want to see you come back! For others, you may not know where to start in our new normal with hybrid events, increased focus on physical safety, and (gasp) flexibility. We want to help! Some of you already have your events back on the calendar but could benefit from cross-promotion and educational opportunities.

For ARFEA, getting back to work means getting to know you, our members, and how we can best support you. To do that, the Board of Directors and I need your help as we find our footing after the pandemic and a period of time with no executive director. We know there is work to be done.

Below are some simple steps you can take to make Arkansas Festival and Events Association work smarter for you. If the pandemic taught us anything, it’s that we must adapt in order to grow. I look forward to growing with you.
